Treasure Chest Cake

by T. Overton
(East Windsor, NJ )

Treasure Chest Cake

Treasure Chest Cake

I made a marble cake to make this treasure chest cake. I deliberately over mixed it so it would look more like wood when we cut it. The cake was one large sheet cake that I cut into 3 pieces. I used 2 equal parts for the bottom layers and the 3rd piece was a bit thinner for the top.

I frosted the bottom pieces and then piled on the chocolate coins, candy necklaces, candy rings, and gold nugget bars. The top was frosted on top and sides first, then placed on top of the candy. The candles are those really long wooden picks. They helped keep the top from sliding. The lock on the front is just gold foil (from the candy) with a black "hole" drawn onto it.

ummm... that's it!
