Tiered New Baby Cake

Tiered New Baby Cake

Tiered New Baby Cake

This was such a fun cake. A friend of mine was having her first baby!

For the bottom I used a 10 inch pan. I made 3 white cakes. I then stacked them - a layer of cake and some Bavarian cream filling and so on. Then I put a coat of buttercream icing over it. I did the same thing for the top only using an 8 inch pan.

In the bottom portion I placed wood dowels before putting the top on to avoid it caving in! After that I did the squares on the bottom out of colored buttercream. I just started going around and hoped that I didn't have a really small square. Thankfully it worked out.

I bought the little feet in a baby shower package. They are not edible. They were a thick lace type of material. Then I moved to the top and diamonds out of the buttercream. Then I did circles around the middle section out of the left over color.

I bought the baby topper in the cake section and put him on the top surrounded by some drop flowers using a flower tip. I have had so many people ask me to do this cake for them or their friends. I think that I have made 4 versions of this cake now!
