Mr Men Birthday Cake

Mr Men Birthday Cake

Mr Men Birthday Cake

I made in advance the Mr men arms and feet out of fondant with toothpicks inserted into the ends so i could push them into the body easily once dry.

Mr happy is made using the Wilton sports ball pan. The two halves were stuck together with a jam preserve and homemade buttercream frosting. I used an apricot glaze before adding yellow tinted fondant to cover the ball.

Mr birthday was made simply by stacking square cuts of a homemade yellow cake. Each tier was layered with Jam preserve and buttercream frosting. I covered him in blue tinted fondant. I left these to try for a day or so in a cardboard cake box. The facial details were hand drawn using an edible marker, once fondant had hardened slightly. The balloon Mr birthday is holding was made using foamboard and wire. The base of the cake was a 1/4 sheet cake and frosted in green frosting and sprinkled with green tinted coconut to look like grass. The streamers are made out of fondant that i twisted over a pencil and allowed to dry.

The writing on the cake says Happy Birthday Mr. Ewan (my son's name)

The Mr Men candles on the cake i found via ebay.
The small pictures on the front of the base of the cake are edible royal icing figures of some of the Mr Men characters.

Amazing!
by: Susie Blake

These cakes were fantastic! They looked EXACTLY like the cartoon characters, and not only did they taste amazing, but they fed so many people! Hayley even flavored the fondant with a little vanilla, so that the usually-blah fondant even tasted decadent!
