Imaginative and creative programs are educational- not in a traditional sense, but certainly encourage children to think in inventive and novel ways, skills that are just as important as reading and writing.

 Disney's Princess Fashion Boutique Age 5 and Up

This game has to be every young girls fantasy. Girls are now able to 'become' their favorite Disney princesses- step into their clothes and explore their magical worlds. After choosing which princess they want to be, they take a trip through the magic mirror and can begin to create their own personal princess, either by combining selected features, or importing a photo.  The "Princess Dressing Room" is where a supply of endless clothing options are then chosen.
 
The "Star of the Story" section allows girls to create their own, personalized fairy tales which can be printed or saved to their desktop.
The program encourages girls to use their imagination and creativity as they design and dress their princesses, and decorate their "Star of the Story" scenes. The Disney characters add to the attraction and the program features three unique Princess Worlds giving a huge variety of creative options. Many of the art tools offered are similar to those found in more complicated art programs.

 Bears's Imagine That! Age 3-6

Based on the "Bear in the Big Blue House" television series, the program encourages kids to challenge their imagination as they venture throughout the House looking for inspiration for Ojo who is Ojo-angelo, the famous marker and crayon artist. Unfortunately she is currently lacking inspiration and needs her friends to help her find some.

Children venture throughout the house, enjoying clickable surprises, meeting Ojo's many friends, and completing five creative activities. Exploration is encouraged and there are opportunities for learning about shapes, story telling, and rhyming. Pre-school kids will enjoy the interactivity of the games with their familiar fluffy friends. Bear pops in from time to time to offer his thoughts and encourage kids to expand their imaginations and think creatively.

 Disney's Magic Artist Studio All Ages

Disney’s Magic Artist Studio is a superb art exploration program, guaranteed to provide any child with endless hours of imaginative fun. Time can be spent creating colorful and exciting graphics, learning to animate them or making slide shows of saved masterpieces.

The Desktop is equipped with an array of colors, textures and tools. Children can produce freehand creations using the mouse as a drawing tool, or using the companion SketchBoard Studio. Over 15 sets of stamps give youger kids control of familiar Disney cartoon characters and images; loved by the preschoolers. Other featured tools include the Doodlemorph Tool, which allows kids to create original animations, the Shapemaker Tool, for perfect squares, circles and triangles, and the Sliders, which can make simple lines into original creations.

Finished masterpieces can then be placed in The Gallery and turned into slide shows by adding music and special effects. In the Lesson Area, drawing skills are taught to the willing and patient child, suited to older children. Disney characters can be traced on the screen with the mouse, or drawn freehand, following detailed instructions. Animation techniques are also available here. 
 
Super graphics, funny sound effects and a wide variety of tools and options will keep kids entertained for hours. Although the program is aimed at younger users, even teenagers will enjoy experimenting with Magic Artist's almost limitless possibilities, although patience is required for the more advanced activities. Time well spent on the computer for any age group. A great piece of software for families with children of differing ages.
