Gone Fishing Cake

by Julie M.
(Rochester, NY, USA)

I made this cake for a guy who liked to go fishing. It's a 12" two-layer round cake iced in light blue buttercream to look like water.

The top is decorated with drop flowers and green grass (grass tip) leaving an oval space to be the pond area. The fisherman is made out of buttercream, piped with a large round tip (#10 or 12) - first the legs crossed, and then a round part for his chest and belly. The arms are crossed with a round head and little hat.

I added little details like pockets and buttons, and hair, with my smallest round tip. The fishing pole is made out of a piece of spaghetti covered in chocolate buttercream, and with a little piece of black thread attached to the end. The fish are made out of multi colored buttercreams piped with large and small round tips. Little black eyes and blue bubbles piped with small round tip. Lastly the rock border at the bottom is made out of round tip piping.

Julie this cake is just perfect.
The colors, the details, I just love it!

Unfortunately, no 'fishing men' in my life for me to make it for at the moment, but I just had to let you know how much I love it!
