Mozart's Magic Flute The Music Game
Age 4 to 104

Kids (and adults) are challenged to solve musical puzzles to reach the castle of the evil Queen of the Night and bring daylight back to the world in this engaging and imaginative program. Although the activities revolve primarily around identifying musical instruments used in pieces from Mozart’s famous opera, The Magic Flute, games also include musical trivia and re-creating musical notes with an onscreen vibraphone.
Players will be challenged by the task of stopping to truly listen to a piece of classical music, dissect it, and put it back together again. The program's publisher dubs the games 'musical jigsaw puzzles', which is how the games are structured.

The Magic Flute teaches not only musical skills, but also history and will appeal to kids with an interest in music.
The challenge idea in the program is appealing to older kids as they will enjoy winning the individual games and collecting rewards to place in their 'magic bags'.
This is a fun and very unique program to add to your child’s collection of educational software.

Learn To Play Chess With Fritz and Chesster    Age 6 and up

Young Fritz has been asked to stand-in for King White, the ruler of the land, while he is off on vacation. Sure enough, that's when the somewhat evil King Black challanges the acting King to a duel - a chess duel. Fritz accepts the challenge, and sets off on the journey to King Black's castle. Along the way, he encounters an old friend, King Kaleidoscope, who offers to help train the young man for his duel.

After the basic training is completed, the young King progresses through three levels of actual chess training, using each of the pieces in separate activities.  Move strategies and tactics are explained, demonstrated, and then offered up in a series of practice situations. Success must be demonstrated before the child can move on.
After displaying an adequate track record the young King Fritz is allowed to take on the Black King in a chess duel.

Kids like this program because it breaks the game down into smaller, more understandable pieces, and gives lots of instruction in non-chess analogies that later carry over into a real chess game. The program navigation is relatively intuitive, and it excels because it is an actual teaching program, not just a set of drills. It is a fun and effective program to teach the basics of chess for learners of all ages.

Pajama Sam 3 - You Are what You Eat from Your Head to Your Feet Age 3-8

Pajama Sam plows his way through box after box of chocolate chip cookies in an effort to collect the cookie box tops needed to send away for a Pajama Man action figure. He ends up queasy when Mom calls him for dinner. He works out that it's the Cookie Gang that has caused his discomfort and vows to stop their evil deeds. His chase to confront them leads him to MopTop Island, where the junk food is trying to overthrow the healthy food.

This program involves children in a lengthy quest with many educational aspects as well giving an understanding of the main food groups and healthy eating. The story unfolds as kids move through the program, exploring, listening, learning, and solving riddles that will lead to a resolution of the dilemma for the quarreling food groups.
Kids are required to have good spatial awareness and mapping skills, thus making the program challenging, particularly for younger users. Problem solving skills are required to decipher clues and decide what action to take to proceed. In addition, kids learn about conflict resolution, sequencing, and compromise in their attempt to bring all the food groups together in unity.

Pajama Sam is an lovable hero and the other characters he encounters on MopTop island are interesting and unique. The action-filled storyline along with the cast of crazy characters keeps the program entertaining and challenging.
The game is different every time (and even customizable), so it can be played again and again. It offers a good balance of educational benefits and good old-fashioned fun. More suited to the 5 years plus age group.
