Easy Christmas Recipes

Fun Recipes For Kids

Christmas is such a busy time that we thought a few easy Christmas recipes would help out those needing a quick gift idea for a teacher or something special to put on the Christmas dinner table. The kids can pitch in with all of these recipes as your special Christmas helpers.

Another easy Christmas recipe- Chocolate Christmas Trees

Easy Chocolate Christmas Trees

These lovely Christmas trees make a great Christmas centrepiece for your table. You can make them as small or tall as you like. If your kids are not quite old enough to help you with the moulding of each branch then they can certainly be your 'special stirrer' for the mixture.
Best of all they are a quick and easy Christmas recipe to prepare.

You'll Need
10oz/300g milk chocolate
1 1/2 cups Rice Bubbles or chopped nuts
3/4 cup shredded coconut
icing sugar for dusting

Break the chocolate into pieces and melt in the microwave or over a double boiler, stirring until smooth. Add the Rice Bubbles and coconut and stir until combined.
Lay out sheets of baking paper on trays to make each of the crosses which make up the tree. Use a spoon to make each cross shape, starting with the largest cross for the bottom of the tree, gradually getting smaller. This amount of mixture will make six crosses. Double the mixture for a larger and taller tree. Allow the crosses to set in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Using a serving plate or cake board and starting with the largest cross, build your tree. You will need the left over mixture to use a 'glue' to gently stick your crosses together. Once complete allow to chill for a further 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
Decorate with icing sugar gently pushed through a sieve or tea strainer.

White Christmas
A traditional Australian recipe that looks lovely and tastes pretty darn good too! Apart from melting the chocolate and butter your kids can completely run the show on this truly easy Christmas recipe.

You'll Need
2 cups rice bubbles
1/3 cup mixed peel- can include cherries for Christmas color
1/4 cup currants
1/3 cup flaked almonds
125g of butter, melted
250g of white chocolate, melted

Mix together the melted chocolate and butter. In a separate bowl combine all of the dry ingredients and then pour the mixture over the melted chocolate
and butter.
Pour into a greased lined tray and refrigerate until set. Slice into squares and serve or wrap in cellophane for pretty and easy Christmas gifts.

Stained Glass Biscuits
Another of those great easy Christmas recipes that can be used in pretty gift bags as a present or even as Christmas tree decorations.

Beautiful and easy Christmas cookies- stained glass biscuits.

You’ll need
6oz/185g butter
1 cup castor sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups plain flour
1 egg
4oz/130g boiled lollies/ life savers

Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla. Add the flour and egg, and beat until the dough is smooth.
Knead lightly, then wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30mins. Remove from refrigerator and roll out dough to a 2mm thickness. Use large biscuit cutters to cut different shapes, and then smaller cutters to cut out the centres.
Bake the biscuits for 5 minutes at 170°C/ 340F on baking paper. Remove from oven and sprinkle crushed boiled lollies into the centre. Return to oven for an extra 5 minutes to melt the crushed lollies.
Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from paper.
