Dora the Explorer Birthday Cake

Dora Birthay Cake

Dora Birthay Cake

I am not much of cake maker but didn't want to buy a store made cake for my daughter's birthday so I decided that I would try to make her a Dora Cake.

I used a Dora birthday card as my guide, and cut tin strips of licorice to create the outline and then colored icing in little batches to add her dress, hair and skin.

My daughter was not completely convincd that it loked like Dora at the time but ever since has talked about nothing else except her 'Dora Birthday Cake'!

It has given me new appreciation for al the beautiful cakes that are in the cakes gallery!

Next year I might even buy some proper cake-making equipment so that I can do a better job!

Anyone can buy a cake...

Your love shows in your daughter's birthday cake. I, too, started decorating cakes for my sons' birthdays and now I'm making cakes for my grandchildren. The cakes look better, but the love is still the same.

I think you did a great job, sounds like your daughter loved the cake even if she didn't tell you at the time!
