Bella LadyBug Cake

by Connie
(Stewartsville, NJ)

Ladybird Cake

Ladybird Cake

Ladybug Cake

The base of the cake is a 9" round, which i covered in green icing and spiked the icing a little to give it that grassy look. then I added 1/2 round cake pan fro the ladybug. The ladybug is covered in red icing with details in black liquid fondant.

For the grass spikes I dyed white chocolate green and poured it onto wax paper. Once dried I used a knife and just cut it in cracked, jagged edges, and then stuck them into the cake along the back. With the leftover chocolate scraps I used a leave cookie cutter and just added some random leaves. For the dirt I sprinkled a little loose graham crackers powder. I didn't want to use brown sugar because it would make everything too sweet.
